A rice poke bowl

Paddles Up Poke

Craving fresh fish? You don’t have to head to the coast to get it–Boise’s own Paddles Up Poké serves up fresh signature poké bowls and sushi burritos in five Treasure Valley locations!

This fall, their sixth location will open in BoDo’s Warehouse Food Hall, giving you even more chances to enjoy their fresh foods suitable for vegans, vegetarians, gluten-free eaters, and everything in between!

Started by Boise State alumni Dan and Laura Landucci, Paddles Up was started in 2016 in response to Dan seeing a lack of quick meals to grab on a lunch break that was also filling and healthy. Their signature bowls and burritos are 100% customizable, giving you complete control over what goes into it: simply pick a base, add a protein, add a sauce, and pick your toppings! With the exception of three easily omitted toppings, every item on the menu is 100% gluten-free.

Not sure what to order? Need a gluten-free recommendation for Paddles Up Poké? Order their uber-popular option, The Paddles Up, filled with traditional tuna, pink ginger, cucumbers, mango, unagi sauce, green onions, and sesame seeds. Or the North End Chicken with smoked chicken breast, Paddles Up teriyaki, pineapple, carrots, edamame, unagi sauce, and sesame seeds.

D.J. Lyttle eating a large hamburger

Influencer Spotlight: BurgerBoi

We all have that go-to menu item we love to get when we’re eating out. For some, it’s BLT’s or Tennessee hot chicken, but for one Idaho man, it’s burgers. D. J. Lyttle, or as many more know him, @BurgerBoi_Boise on Instagram, has committed an entire page to tasting burgers around the Treasure Valley.

Like many of us, BurgerBoi found himself with time to kill when much of the world came to a halt with COVID. In those early days, he took the opportunity to spend some quality time on hobbies and exploring a food he had enjoyed his whole life: the hamburger.

Bringing together his love of cooking, a desire to use nothing but mostly local ingredients, and some serious foodie creativity, BurgerBoi began posting about the burgers he had been cooking in his downtime.

In addition to showing off how to craft with local products, BurgerBoi wanted to help give needed support to Treasure Valley burger joints.

Over two years later, BurgerBoi has grown his hobby into a following. And you might be wondering: which burger is best? To that, he says, “it’s all about your taste!” His page invites you to taste along with him, find new restaurants, or a local rancher with great beef products. Most of all, BurgerBoi likes to remind his followers to seek the burger they love and to support local as often as possible.

Meridian Window Tint

Fall is a beautiful time – the leaves start to turn brilliant warm shades of red, orange, and yellow, falling to the ground, allowing in extra rays of sunshine during a colder time of year. Those same rays can become a destructive nuisance to your house! Without that leafy protection barrier, the sun’s beams can cause glare on your screens, and powerful UV can damage furniture and floors. Rather than live with the shades permanently drawn, invest in window tinting and glare protection from Meridian Window Tint.
