Boise's Own Animal King: Corbin Maxey

Last updated August 25, 2020 by Totally Boise

Being a voice to reptiles and other animals, Corbin Maxey is easily one of the coolest and most interesting people in Idaho. What started as a fascination and love for pets at the young age of twelve has continued on a journey of rescuing exotic animals and educating people all over the United States.

While his animals’ location is not open to the public, Maxey does virtual shows, school events, and other public shows to raise awareness for animals. Maxey’s most recent Virtual Animal Encounters stems from the initiative to social distance, and just like animals, Maxey says, “we adapt.”

Dedicating his life to animals, Maxey currently owns 30 exotic animals.

A Boise State Biology alumnus, Maxey is proud to be recognized as an animal expert and television personality.

Maxey educated Totally Boise that reptiles and exotic animals are not just short term pets, they have long life spans, require knowledge, medical care, proper environments, and maintenance. All of Maxey’s rescued animals and pets come with a big responsibility, and he knows that. For instance, his tarantula can live up to 30 years!

Turning Alligator Bites Into Educational Moments, That’s Corbin!

Recently, Maxey went on Instagram and shared with his viewers an incident with one of his alligators. Maxey goes on to explain that he was bit by one of his alligators. Without missing a beat, Maxey turned the incident into not only an educational lesson but one of responsibility. He reminded followers that he takes responsibility for the mishap, but animals such as his alligator come with complete focus and caution when handling them.
