Gateway Parks Is Your Non-Stop Tubing Hill That Always Has The Snow

Last updated November 30, 2021 by Mariah Hebbeln

Located at Eagle Island State Park, Gateway Parks is the perfect spot for all-day tubing. The snow is falling daily at Gateway Parks and every day you can bomb down one of their five professionally groomed tubing hills. Rain or shine, you can enjoy the slopes, but there’s so much more happening at Gateway Parks this winter.

Keep reading to see what Gateway Parks has in store for the 2021/22 tubing season!

First Step: Make a Reservation

Gateway Parks thrives on reservations. This gauges how busy they will be in the coming days or weeks. It also helps customers feel assured that their time at the park won’t be overcrowded.

At times, you could pop in and start tubing, but there is no guarantee that there will be an opening when you do. To avoid any missed opportunity to tube, your best move is to book your tickets as far in advance as possible!

Once you find a day that you would like to go tubing, you can book specific time slots.

There Is Always Snow At Gateway Parks

You might be wondering how Gateway Parks can keep their runs groomed and maintain a sledable level of snow on their grounds. With the average snowfall in Boise being around 18 inches per year - excluding Snowmageddon - most Treasure Valley residents need to leave town to have snowy adventures. Thanks to the top-of-the-line snow machines at Gateway Parks, they never need to rely on nature to make the snow. Instead, they pump water from the nearby lake to produce fresh snow daily.

Fun fact about the manufactured snow: Your tube can slide down quicker on man-made snow than on naturally fallen snow! This is possible because the machines can create their snow at night where it can set in time for the first runs of the next day. The manufactured snow is almost completely indiscernible to naturally made snow other than the improved speed of snow. Rainfall can also help make the tubing runs slicker, making those some of the BEST days to go.

If you’re looking for a safe, fun, and nearby spot to sled some snow, the snow machines make Gateway Parks the only reliable tubing hill in the Treasure Valley!
