Boise’s New Neighborhood Hangout, The Backyard.

Last updated June 19, 2020 by Totally Boise

As many of us struggle with travel restrictions and the urge to fly, there is a perfect opportunity for locals to go on vacation right in their backyard, well Franklin House’s backyard.

The 1896 refurbished Franklin House has a charming bed and breakfast for those looking to “get away” without even stepping foot on an airplane. Located on the corner of 15th and Franklin, co-owners Jen Bury and Gavin O’neall have built and designed the ultimate hangout spot.

Guests along with non-guests can take advantage of the seasonal outdoor bar called, you guessed it, The Backyard. From the outside, it may just look like the typical stroll through the North End, but upon entering it is a different story. Taking a step into what one would imagine a home and garden backyard dream design to be, unique touches have been added.

While fire pits and traditional seating may be the first to catch one’s eyes upon entering, it’s their unconventional 14 swinging hammock seats that set the scene for relaxation. Yes, you read that right, as an adult you can swing in a hammock and drink. But it doesn’t end there.

With soon to be 14 rotating beers on tap, there is no shortage of beers at The Backyard. Although, if beer doesn’t quite quench your thirst, try any of their wine, whiteclaw or other pre-mixed alcoholic beverages. With so many drink options, it is easy to describe The Backyard as a Boise oasis. In addition to drinks, local food trucks often stop by different days of the week.

As the weather heats up in Boise for the Summer, The Backyard is the perfect place to get away, even if it’s just for a few days or even hours.
