Last updated December 01, 2022 by Tessa Bishop

Now that the cool air and snow-filled days are upon us, indoor activities are calling our name! Don’t get us wrong, we love exploring the outdoors, and the snow makes it that much better, but sometimes you just need to bundle up and keep warm indoors! Here are some of the best ways to keep warm on those days when the cold weather isn’t for you.

1. Skate around Idaho IceWorld

Who doesn’t love ice skating? Idaho IceWorld is the place to enjoy indoor ice skating with your loved ones. So grab your friends and family, throw on those skates and show them your best triple axle! Need a bit of skating practice? Don’t worry, Idaho IceWorld offers 6-8 week skating school lessons.

2. Idaho Steelheads Game

Boise doesn’t take hockey season lightly! Supporting Boise’s local hockey team is necessary if you’re a Boise local. Steelheads games are typically played on Fridays and Saturdays in the downtown Boise CenturyLink arena. Going to an Idaho Steelheads game is the perfect family outing, guys’ night, girls’ night, or date night.

Totally Boise Tip: Wear extra layers, the arena is known to keep cold!

3. Attend a Boise Show at one of the Local Theaters

Between the Morrison Center, the Boise Philharmonic, and Boise Class Movies at the Egyptian Theatre you’ve got options. Celebrate the holidays by attending a holiday-themed show inside the warmth of a beautiful theater.

4. Explore the Idaho State Capitol

What better way to spend an afternoon indoors than exploring 50,000 square feet of marble and learning about the history of this amazing city? Take this experience to the next level and explore other Boise landmarks, including the Boise Train Depot and the Old Idaho Penitentiary.

There’s more to Boise State Sports than football. The Broncos men’s and women’s basketball teams take the main stage at the ExtraMile Arena, along with multiple other sporting events. Who doesn’t love cheering on our local Boise State sports teams from the warmth inside of the Arena?

6. Enjoy the Indoor Winter Market

Missing the Boise Farmers Market? Don’t fret! They move indoors in the winter and continue the Saturday tradition of shopping locally. Vendors continue carrying fruits, veggies, jams, bread, pastries, art, photography, and so much more! Plus, strolling the Saturday market is the perfect time to pick up last-minute gifts and goodies.
